In Paterson Four men beat and choked a woman on Tuesday before stealing her car, according to authorities.
She told police “she was driving around looking for people to ask for money” before finding an acquaintance with three men she didn’t know. As she talked to them, her cell phone went off.
While she was distracted, two of the men she didn’t know got into the back seat. One choked her while the other punched her in the face, police said.
Her acquaintance got into the front passenger seat. The woman eventually got out of the car and the last man got in and drove them east on 14th Avenue, police said.
Police found the woman bleeding from her nose at 5:55 a.m. on 14th Avenue. Police said the vehicle was a rented white Nissan. The men may have driven a stolen Plymouth Voyager found at the scene with fresh damage. Police only described the suspects as black males.
