Paterson city police say they’ve identified the man responsible for a shooting that occurred back in December that left one man hospitalized. Authorities have not yet been able to apprehend the suspect.
Andre Edwards, 34, of Carroll Street has been charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses.From the Cease Fire Unit, Lt. Patrick Murray, stated that Edwards was the trigger man in a Dec. 1 shooting at 2:15 a.m. in the area of Ellison and Prospect Streets in the 1st Ward.
Patrol units that had been notified to the shooting by the city’s ShotSpotter gunshot alert system spotted an SUV traveling at a high rate of speed. Inside the vehicle, they found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot to the hip, Murray said. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.
The investigation revealed that Andre Edwards had shot the 26-year-old man and fled, Murray said.
