In Paterson a 26-year-old city man was arrested on charges stemming from a July shooting. Two city police officers Ryan Curving and Daniel Condon spotted Ismael Marrero near the corner of Park Avenue and Carroll Street and recognized him as being wanted for the July 1 shooting, according to police. The officers exited their vehicle, and as they approached, he immediately discarded a plastic bag which was discovered to contain numerous baggies of suspected marijuana, Detective Lt. Patrick Murray, head of the city s Ceasefire Unit, said in a news release.
The officer s quickly grabbed Marrero, who was charged with aggravated assault, weapons and drug offenses, Murray said. Police said the July afternoon shooting left a 22-year-old city man wounded from a gunshot wound to the arm at Carroll and Olive Streets. Detectives Rolando Polio and Edgar Taylor handled the investigation that led to charges against Marrero late last week, police added. Marrero was held at the city police lockup on $100,000 bail, with no 10 percent option.
