Raymond Torres, a 24-year old male, was pronounced dead Monday evening at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, where he was apparently driven in a private vehicle after being shot in the City of Paterson.
According to a statement released by Detective Captain Heriberto Rodriguez of the Paterson Police Department, patrol units were dispatched to the area of 106 Park Avenue at approximately 8:20pm last night on the report of shots fired. This is the second Paterson shooting in 2 days. The first, which happened Sunday night at approximately 11pm in Paterson’s 4th ward, left a 33-year old male hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the groin. The investigation revealed that he was standing on Governor Street (near the intersection of Carroll Street) when someone starting shooting and hit him once. He sought assistance from a nearby residence and was taken to the hospital at that time. The Paterson Police Department is searching for surveillance video and the investigation is ongoing.
