Newark NJ detectives arrested a Union Township NJ man after they allegedly found him in possession of hundreds of bags of heroin and cocaine.
According to Newark prosecutors, 42-year-old Nevel Harris was arrested in front of 300 Chancellor Avenue.
Prosecutors said that Mr. Harris had a large amount of drugs in his possession. Detectives allegedly recovered 750 envelopes of heroin, 45 grams of cocaine, and almost $5,000.00 in cash.
After being arrested, Mr. Harris was charged with a slew of drug offenses.
In New Jersey, the criminal charge for heroin possession is set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10. The statute stipulates that possession of even a small amount of heroin can be classified as a third degree offense. If Mr. Harris is convicted is convicted of third degree heroin possession, he could face up to five (5) years in New Jersey State Prison.
After being charged, Mr. Harris was remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000.00 bail.
