More Charges Filed in Case of Man Found Dead at North Bergen Gas Station

Back in January, this matter was the subject of a blog article that I wrote entitled, “Girlfriend of Slain Main Charged With Murder.” My article described an incident that began on December 30th/31st, during which 23-year old Latoya Mozee, of Newark, was engaged in a domestic violence altercation with her purported boyfriend, 24-year old Darryl Williams of Essex County. The altercation is believed to have culminated in Williams being assaulted to the point of unconsciousness, bound, and driven to North Bergen, where he was dumped behind a gas station and left to die. Williams’ body was discovered at the gas station, with his hands still bound behind his back, by a passer-by on December 31st. It was later determined that his cause of death was “asphyxiation due to multiple blunt force and sharp force injuries to his airway.”

Latoya Mozee was subsequently charged with Williams’ murder, and was later apprehended in North Carolina.

On Wednesday, authorities announced that two more Newark women were charged with Williams’ murder – Nydia Mozee, 27, and Qudeera Adams, 25. Latoya and Nydia Mozee are believed to be related, but the exact nature of their relation is unclear.

Thereafter, on Thursday, authorities announced that Marc C. Browne, 43, of Newark, also of Newark, was charged with Williams’ murder. He is currently being held in federal custody on an unrelated matter.

According to the complaints, probable cause for the arrests was based on surveillance footage from a location near Latoya Mozee’s residence in Newark, “biological evidence” recovered from her residence, and various statements of co-defendants and witnesses.

Bail was set for all three of the actors at $1 million, cash.

The investigation into Williams’ murder is continuing and it is believed that more arrests may be forthcoming.

Anyone with information on Williams’ death is being asked to call the Homicide Unit of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at (201) 915-1345. All calls will be kept confidential.
