Carlos Victoriano, a 27-year old Jersey City man, was arrested last night following an incident with his ex-wife’s new boyfriend at a Hackensack laundromat.
According to law enforcement officials, Victoriano allegedly appeared at a Sussex Street laundromat Sunday night, where he encountered his ex-wife’s new boyfriend, a 39-year old Hackensack resident (whose identity has been withheld). The two apparently got into an argument – Victoriano claiming that the new boyfriend owed him money. Victoriano ultimately stabbed the new boyfriend 10 times in the stomach and chest. When the new boyfriend’s 15-year old son tried to intervene on behalf of his father, Victoriano stabbed him too – in the hand and arm.
The new boyfriend and his son were taken to the Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment. The son was treated and released. As of this morning, the new boyfriend was still recovering.
Victoriano was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, andPossession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. He is being held at the Bergen County jail in lieu of $125,000 bail.

If convicted of the most serious charge – Attempted Murder, a crime of the first degree – Victoriano will face a maximum of 20 years in New Jersey State Prison, with a requirement that he serve 85% of the sentence imposed without the benefit of parole, as per the No Early Release Act (“NERA”) for violent offenders.a
